Schick®, a worldwide leading brand in innovative modern shaving products, owed its origins in the 1920s to a pioneering inventor, US Army Lt. Col. Jacob Schick.
He conceived an invention of a dry shaver that could safely shave without water or lather. Although his idea had no luck in garnering interest in the beginning, the invention quickly became a commercial success in 1926 when the army rifle magazine-inspired safe razor cartridges were introduced.
The following year he would move on to produce electric shavers, a bold move in his belief that the “wet-shaving” method’s days were numbered.
In the years ahead, the Schick Safety Razor Company and the Wilkinson Swords Company (the Shaving Products Group) pioneered many new breakthroughs; the first Teflon® coated stainless-steel razor, lubricating strips for added comfort, chromium blade edge for extensive durability, fixed-geometry razors (the forerunner of all modern day shavers), flexible cartridges and more.
In 2000, Schick® became part of the Pfizer family, and was then acquired by Energizer® in 2003.
Shaving Products Group engineers and scientists continue to envision new ways to improve the quality of shaving. Following in the footsteps of Jacob Schick and Henry Wilkinson, the Shaving Products Group strives to design and produce the finest quality shaving products possible. |
